After the death of Dr. Antonio Negrón Rubio in 2004, his son, Dr. Fernando Antonio Negrón Allen, Otorhinolaryngologist, took over the general direction of Hospital Médica San Miguel.
During his leadership, several improvements were made that changed the hospital’s services. The second floor was built, which 10 more hospitalization beds, the blood bank was inaugurated, the cellular therapy specialty was opened and the intensive care area was enlarged and equipped. In the same way, the hemodynamic service was promoted until it was installed; it is still the most modern and equipped on the island. This service made it possible to perform cardiac catheterization procedures without risky transfers outside of Cozumel.
In addition to providing and expanding high quality medical services at affordable prices for the community, Dr. Fernando Negron was not only a great promoter of Cozumel, but also a generous philanthropist with those who came to him for help, especially those young people who were studying medicine and did not have sufficient resources to meet the expenses that the career demands.

This is how the legacy of Dr. Negrón continues to this day in the community and in Hospital Médica San Miguel, which continues to expand and improve medical services in order to be the best option in health care in Cozumel Island.
